The Highlands Group of the Carolinas was founded in 2001 as a Design-Build Construction Company. The goal of the Highlands Group is to be an all-in-one company that is able to take a project from the earliest conceptual stages and follow through to deliver a finished project.
With almost 50 years of experience in the Engineering/Construction business, the owner of the Highlands Group, Lane Fowler, has been involved in almost every type of construction imaginable. As a Professional Engineer and former Vice President of Lockwood Greene, Lane has built a reputation of excellence in design and construction all over the world. Through the Highlands Group, Lane has been able to utilize his expertise and experience and grow a family-run, family-oriented business that focuses on smaller projects located in the Upstate of South Carolina and serves our local community.

From the start, the company has striven to keep everyone involved within the company as satisfied as the clients that seek design/construction services. Employees are the most valued asset at the Highlands Group of the Carolinas, and to this day the bar is continuously set higher and higher to ensure the best outcome for everyone.
The Highlands Group of the Carolinas is a very diverse organization in the Construction field. With two branch companies, Highlands Construction and Associated Mechanical and Electrical, the Highlands Group is able to do what most companies cannot: provide excellent service with an in-house staff. Our services are not only that of design and construction management; we also provide a competent and professional staff to install from the ground up.
When it comes to large projects that cannot be done entirely in-house, we are most proficient at subcontractor relations and managing contracts with multiple parties. Construction is a vast field and no two projects are the same. We are competent in managing the project from start to finish.
